GOD DAMN IT, I HATE EVERYTHING ABOUT THE YANKEES (Open letter to Buster Olney)

Buster,

This is my first time writing you. I've read your blog every day since Bill Simmons plugged it and I love it. I figured you might not have stayed up to catch the end of the Yankees-Mariners game, and after watching the end of it via the MLB.tv stream of the YES broadcast, I wish that I hadn't either. Have you listened to those toadies in the YES broadcast booth lately? I'm sorry if they're friends of yours, but look at these two quotes after Melky Cabrera's home run:

1) "And a child shall lead them home!" Bad enough that they have the gall to allude to the Bible while describing a walk off home run, as if any supernatural being other than Satan himself is ever involved in any Yankee win, but then, while going over the replay of Cabrera's home run trot, comes this whammy:

2) "And now we see the patented A-ROD (my emphasis) helmet flip [as Cabrera approaches the scrum of Yankees at the plate]."

Check out the end of the game once it's up on MLB.tv and listen for yourself.

Everyone, even the most ignorant boor of a Yankee fan, knows that the patent for the walk-off helmet flip is the SOLE PROPERTY OF BIG PAPI. A-Rod ripped it off for the only walk-off shot he's hit in pinstripes, and the YES Network has the gall to give him credit for inventing it? Please, please, please, put in a short blurb about this in your blog. Someone has to go on the record, because you know that if the Yankees can't have Papi, they'll damn well try to steal his thunder. Pathetic.

In any case, keep up the great work. Do you think the Sox are going to be in the market for Zito now that they're down to Schilling, Lester (against the Royals, anyway), and Mr. "Hey, the pitchers don't have to bat in this league?" for a starting rotation? How drunk would we have to get Billy Beane to get Zito to the Sox in exchange for a guy like Wily Mo Pena and someone like Adam Stern?
